The Professional Unification of Martial Arts (P.U.M.A.) is an organisation founded and run by professional, full-time martial arts instructors. It's Chairman is Master Ray Gayle, 8th Degree Blackbelt.

P.U.M.A. was founded on the values of high standards & value for money. This is not simply a vision statement, rather it is the true feelings of the senior P.U.M.A. instructors. They feel that there are a number of things that all martial arts schools should have as their core values.

These include:

Quality of Instruction
As well as their competence as martial artists, P.U.M.A. also believes that it's instructors need to conduct themselves in a modern, professional manner. All instructors are fully trained and certified. The National Coaching Federation (NCF) supports the training courses that instructors must attend. All instructors have professional liability insurance & are required to have First Aid qualifications. In addition instructors, assistants and helpers are all required to be CRB checked and undertake regular child protection training.

Quality of Service
P.U.M.A. is dedicated to constantly improving the quality of service provided to students. This year, for example, there have been a number of changes and improvements to the children's syllabus. Changes have been made to match the syllabus and teaching methods to the way in which children in various age groups learn best.

Value for Money
Being a P.U.M.A. club member entitles students to many benefits. There are training camps, seminars from some of the world's top martial artists (not just from within P.U.M.A.), and access to quality equipment at low prices. For all this, students pay just one monthly fee, which entitles them to train at any P.U.M.A. school anywhere at no extra cost. If you were particulary keen, you could train nearly every day of the week. If you want to find out more about P.U.M.A. go to the P.U.M.A. website at
